Our Story
The initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate our local heroes, including deceased veterans and both active and former members of the Canadian, Allied, or Commonwealth Forces with connections to Perth. This encompasses individuals born in Perth or its vicinity, those who have lived or currently reside there, and those with significant ties to the community. The program seeks to foster remembrance and respect for our veterans, ensuring their legacies endure for future generations.
In addition to honouring our veterans with banners, the program hosts events to raise funds for veterans in need. Through various fundraising activities such as raffle draws, golf tournaments, music events, and motorcycle parades featuring veterans, we have successfully generated thousands of dollars for Veterans' House Canada (The Andy Carswell Building), Homes for Heroes Kingston Veterans' Village, and the Canadian Veteran Service Dog Unit. One Promo contributed $25,000 to the Homeless Veterans Program - Leave the Streets Behind. This generous donation will provide essential support, housing, and resources to veterans in need, ensuring they receive the care and respect they deserve. This initiative is made possible by One Promo's commitment to donate $10 from each banner sold.
We proudly delivered Christmas gifts to the veterans currently residing at The Andy Carswell Building in Ottawa and Homes for Heroes Kingston Veterans' Village, spreading joy and gratitude during this special season.
The banner program has played a significant role in the installation of a "Lest We Forget" granite bench at the cenotaph, and in collaboration with the poppy fund, we have also added two steel benches at Perth Hospital. Additionally, our banner program has facilitated the placement of a Happy Birthday sign and flags in the yards of local veterans and senior homes for individuals aged 80 and above, providing yet another means to acknowledge and honour our living veterans.
Numerous communities have approached us for guidance on initiating this remarkable program. We take pride in our achievements and believe that our veterans are finally receiving the recognition they rightfully deserve. When the Honour Roll is announced at the cenotaph during the Remembrance Day Service, it is truly heartwarming to see the community able to connect faces to many of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This journey has been incredibly rewarding!
