Royden served in the Canadian Army and was assigned to the North shore (New Brunswick )Regiment R.C.I.C. He was killed in action in the Netherlands and is buried in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands ( near Nijmegen close to the German frontier
