Patricia joined the Canadian Forces in 1980 as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator for 5 years before her release. She rejoined and completed her basic training at the age of 44 in the Royal Canadian Navy. She was posted to CFB Esquimalt where she worked as a Steward on various ships, and positions around the base. She retired in 2013 after spending 8 years in the Navy.
